A few personal updates for the new year:

  • In March, I started teaching indexing part-time for the Extension School at the University of California, Berkeley. I will likely be teaching one course per year; the course is remote and self-paced over the course of six months. I’m very happy to be teaching again after a twenty-year hiatus!
  • In August, the American Society for Indexing (ASI) asked me to serve as their publications coordinator, assisting in the re-release of ASI’s back catalog, an exciting volunteer opportunity.
  • Also in August, I resigned my position as an editor and researcher for Legacy Tree Genealogists after 2 ½ years. Working for LTG was a great experience, but other opportunities came knocking.
  • In September, I was awarded a contract to work as a part-time abstracter for the National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) Virtual Library, which is part of the Office of Justice Programs. The work is flexible, so it balances nicely with my indexing and editorial services work.

None of these developments should have any effect on my availability for freelance work, but I do recommend booking projects as far in advance as possible.

Also, I’m having a Winter Sale! (Effective January 14 through January 21) !

Finally, I hope to roll out a quarterly newsletter beginning this year and to update my list of recently completed projects more regularly.

Best wishes for a peaceful and prosperous 2024!
